Daemon Days

This project is inspired by Phillip Pullman's award winning trilogy 'Dark Materials'. Taking inspiration from the film 'The Golden Compass' participants will explore how the Daemon characters expressed the characterstics of their owners.

The workshops include 3D sculpture with ModRoc, acrylic painting and drawing & design.

Football Science

The theme of this project has its roots in, Bolton born, Sir Harry Kroto's discovery of the Buckminsterfullerene molecule - which just happens to be of the same structure as a football or truncated icosohedron. Find out about Harry Kroto, the science and its connections to architecture, the natural world, us as individuals and a bit about map projections as well.

Workshops include wire modelling, paper construction, observational drawing and a bit of map making.

Kites Galore

Kites play an inspiring, magical and cultural role in countries such as Pakistan, China and Quatamala; while the West has deemed them either simply as children's toys or has applied scientific or engineering roles to kites loosing the sheer joy they can bring.

The Kites Galore project introduces participants to the principles of flight and the magic of cultually inspired design.

The workshops include drawing, design, kite construction and of course a chance to fly. The project can be extended to make a permanent outdoor installation.

Suitable for Secondary school pupils and adults of all ages.
