Project Overview I was commissioned to run a one day workshop that would involve up to 100 sixth form students in creating an artwork that would generate thought and discussion around community, their place within it and the wider world.
Project Details

I devised an 'action research' art project that asked the participants to engage with 3 different questions about their community and impressions of the wider world. They were asked to create a figurative model that represented themselves along with a short message to their community. The placing of their model within the framework of the installation indicated the importance they place on being an active member of their community.

The results of the project enabled us to see in a very visual way 1) if the importance people placed on being part of their community could be defined by ethnicity or not, and 2) if participants views of their place within the wider world showed similar ideas based on their cultural background or not.
